Katherine Brechner HTR, MBA As owner of Lasting Nature, Katherine is a Registered Horticultural Therapist (HTR) with the American Horticultural Therapy Association and has had extensive experience both teaching in the field and providing HT services to a variety of populations. She received her original Horticultural Therapy Certificate from the New York Botanical Garden. One of her loves was as a teacher and Nature Specialist for special needs children in a New York summer day camp in addition to providing Horticultural Therapy programming for the Elders among us. Her work in the behavioral health care setting at New Bridges in New Jersey allowed her to bring Horticultural Therapy to an outpatient setting in order to help clients move forward with their recovery goals.
She became a New Mexico State Master Gardener upon her move to Santa Fe as well as having previously earned a certificate in Permaculture Design from the University of Oregon. Her awards include being the recipient of the 2010 Linda Ciccantelli Memorial Scholarship and the Outstanding Professional Service Award, 2015 from the Mid-Atlantic Horticultural Therapy Network where she served on the Board of Directors in various capacities before moving to New Mexico. She currently serves on the Board of the Santa Fe Master Gardeners Association, The Santa Fe Alliance for Science and volunteers at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden. Since COVID, she has continued her teaching to students of Horticultural Therapy via a virtual platform for the New York Botanical Garden.
